Typically, a breakout optical cable comprises multiple single - core optical fibers tightly arranged around a central strengthening element, which is then wrapped with a protective tape and covered with a layer of PVC or LSZH (low - smoke zero - halogen) material. The design features a 900 μm tight - buffered fiber, with the number of fibers ranging from 2 to 24. The branching structure enables the creation of cuts or isolation zones at specific points along the cable, allowing for the separation of sub - cables to meet various branching requirements.
